Who is Susie-Lotta?

Here's a bit about Suzanne Phillips!

 

She was born in Sweden her mother was a ballerina and father was an opera singer in Gothenburg) and she grew up in Australia. As a child her mother called her Susie-Lotta as a nickname so thats where the business name comes from. She lived in Sweden for 16 years and 2 years in England.

 

Suzanne's experience with professional photography started in 1990 at the North Adelaide School of Art. (Aka Stanley Street Art College in those days).

In 1994 she completed a 4 year degree, B.A. of Visual Arts majoring in photography, film and computer animation at the South Australian School of Art/ University of South Australia.
During her life Suzanne has studied design and art for around 13 years of her adult life. So in total she's been producing art, photography and designs for over 27 years.

Recently Suzanne studied a Diploma in Fashion Design at TAFE.

 

Nowadays she lives by the sea in Adelaide, Australia where Suzanne has 2  businesses. Susie-Lotta Designs is her other business where she creates textile designs. She is also a qualified graphic designer!

 

Some of Suzanne's greatest interests are photography, Scandinavian design/glassware/ ceramics/ textiles and second-hand markets.  
She has a strong interest in Medieval reenactment and love photographing others in period clothing.

Her favourite art styles are: Art Nouveau, Scandinavian, Art & crafts movement.

Whilst growing up she was often dreaming about Sweden and she grew up with prints of paintings on the walls by Carl Larsson, glassware from Kosta Boda, Orrefors etc...

Other artists she likes are: John Bauer, Arthur Rackham, Ivan Ivarson, Elsa Beskow, John Waterhouse.

 

Suzanne has a lot of experience working with photography... Including working in a fashion-advertising photo studio in England, teaching adults photography in Sweden, photography stores in Sweden and Australia. She's also worked as a Freelance photographer. (Editorial, weddings, boat christening, events, dance etc).
